Bae Abermaw 2007 (Watercolour)
Early Terezin 2007 (Oil on canvas) unfinished
Ammonite 2007 (Oil on board) 63cm x 77cm unframed and unfinished
This is based on the fossils found dating back hundreds of millions of years, dying with the dinosaurs but leaving what may be descibed as a legacy. The spiral structure is similar to the snail, but in the case of the Ammonite, also supported valleys that would continue to extend itself again and again housing its inhabitant. more
Talking to Dreams 2007 (Oil on canvas) 40cm x 50cm unframed
In an unfinished state, this painting is exploring the relationship we have with our imagination in terms of space and shape. There is a tree on the left that has been sectioned to depict a common value we can take into account, a chair is also shaped into one of the segments, an idea. The branches reach towards a window in which stands a figure, the male. Then there is a decoration, perhaps a fishing line and an alley in which stands the female, leaning against a wall clammed in by bubbles of all colours. Slowly, this image becomes more and moredimensioned, eventually I would like to push the figures and the window, especially, into the background bringing other elements into the piece.
Ventures 2007 (Oil on canvas) 80cm x 60cm unframed
Taking a slightly different approach I decided to use a much more direct approach, taking directly from a single experience and bringing them together without a particular message in mind.
Collecting History 2007 (Oil on Canvas) 80cm x 60cm unframed
The idea is that we live in a world that was built before us, times preceeding birth that caused an effect that has had a resounding effect on people today. The figure collects water with a bucket to sustain more life. Thus there is a feeling that we have achieved privelage and graciousness. I've been looking to Hokusai to find a different impression.
The Three Keys 2005 (Oil on canvas)
This is one of the larger canvases, it is based on a place not far from where I am sitting, set in the Welsh countryside and supporting the lake that is supposed to have once existed on a certain plain. The whole idea is supported as there is a large valley with only one low area, where there flows a small stream with the marks of a small sluce gate and also evidence of an old mill but very very subtle and I am still not certain that it actually existed. The painting itself is more of a concept of possibilty, the three figures determining it from each their own angle. Perhaps one knows but does not tell, while the others must develop their own ideas in the most interesting or theoretical way. It is the Political signature that enthralled me into developing the symbols, as though they were words determining the nature and formation of the direction of the piece as a whole.
Painting of the Tree 2006 (Oil on canvas)

I am unhappy with this work as I could not seem to hold onto it and grasp it to manipulate the paint as I have been able in most of the paintings. The idea was to present these characters in a situation where they were interacting with the viewer as if presenting something. I never quite knew what the something was but taking some photographs I looked at tree - makeup and an image of a building in Amsterdam. The feeling it evoked was a kind of clash between symbolism, biological and fantastical, I tried to save the characters and around the feminine one I have placed an aura of protection but the male is much more vulnerable and searches for self-dependant success.

Peace 2005 (Oil on canvas) framed
This is a larger painting based on the imagination, The concept was based on the state of mind we go into in our subconscious. The colours all imagine the different strengths we experience emotionally. The reds are the hells, quicker and supressed. The blues are the lighter colours and are higher, the green resembles the ground and personal contact.
Next stop 2006 (Oil on canvas)
The theme of this painting is similar to the previous one, the aim is to enlighten the structures and spread the colours more fairly, I found with earlier pieces I was having trouble with colour spread and this got in touch with cavepaintings and dreams like I have not managed to experience previously.
The Tide 2004 (Acrylics and oil on canvas)
One of my earliest paintings using both oil and arylic on relatively small scale. The subject was based on the memories that I have of being beside the sea and the feeling of correctiveness that I would put myself through in order to avoid the possibility of conforming with the masses. In the end it is just a mess, but within the image there are any number of stories and developments.
Workshop 2006 (Oil on canvas)
This is a painting of a place I worked for a while, the trees behind this small garage building were not as dead as they look in the painting although it was a very cold time of year and the ground was quite slippery.
Society Place 2006 (Watercolour)
This is one of the watercolour images I have been working on, I have been painting a series based on the theory of freedom of approach. The idea here is of movement in a city space, the interest of space is dependant upon shape and form mixed with colours and it is important to approach from an angle that appreciates this.
