IN THE BEGINNING WE DECIDED BY POPULARITY CONTEST Born and raised in a small Welsh village, I enjoyed an upbringing that took courage in the escape from the ties of the urban central culture. The ideas brought about by the adaption into society made me realise how important the old world is and that what we aim for is for total independance and for the kind of enlightenment produced by long periods of consideration and thought. One of the aims I had was to meet and develop a bond between other young artists that could grow independantly yet for a developing group without need to appear too vast and unobtainable to the others. Educational passages acted to facilitate this, but I found this method expensive and altogether unobtainable. I currently work at The Fat Buddha Company, selling objects brought from the East and have a deep longing to travel there. I feel as though there is a great deal of pressure on me to succeed and that my aims in this Business rely on my positive attitude and mental approach. Nothing needs to be complicated and perhaps the most important thing to remember is to be patient and considerate without becoming ignorant of the purpose. My homeland will always be important to me, but only in that it gives me time to consider what I have and what I hope for. There is nothing to say that I should not leave it behind, but that there should be no difference in my being there than being in another place. Alyosha Barnes |
