Slate

| This
was an experiment I did using slate found from a caved-in
old building. I was in the process of cleaning out the inside
and needed to put the material somewhere. So some of it
I brought up in a wheelbarrow from the lower garden and
gave a structural presence. |

Sycamore

| I helped
chop a tree down in 2005, then at the base we used a chainsaw
to create a small seat that when sat on, has the river running
past and is especially therapeutic for a stressed passer-by.
This particular piece of wood I was interested in as it
contains a ring, within this there is a sycamore leaf shape,
unusual to say the least, so I spent time sanding it and
it is now just a kind of prop I keep to one side. |

| After
reading Mary Shelly's frankenstein I couldn't think of anything
more exciting than to create a new yet imitation life that
would be supported by myself. To increase the realism I
bought a small bulb that connects to a battery underneath
as a heart. The shadows are particularly successful I feel. |
